FANTASY PROFILE: KURT SUZUKI, C, MINNESOTA TWINS

On the surface, it appears that Suzuki had a mini-breakthrough as his AVG came in at a career high of .288. In reality, not much has changed. Last year, Suzuki was the beneficiary of a .310 BABIP which is 36 points above his career average. In addition, much of the modest power he displayed from 2009-2011 has disappeared as he’s coming off his third straight season with single-digit home run totals.  Also, a full season of playing time is not guaranteed. If and (likely) when Suzuki experiences struggles with the bat this year, Josmil Pinto is waiting in the wings to grab the starting Catcher spot for the Twins.
