Fantasy Profile: Devin Mesoraco, C, Cincinnati Reds
Pos. Rank 5, Captains Value $4.62
Devin Mesoraco had his breakout season in 2014, hitting .273 while hitting 25 Home Runs. He was a player that had plenty of potential prior to last year before finally putting it all together and demonstrating enough ability to be a top-10 Catcher.
However, with Mesoraco expectations will need to be tempered a bit. There is likely to be some regression from his numbers last year. In 2014, his .309 BABIP was 38 points above his career total and it’s unclear how sustainable his 20.5% HR/FB rate from last year was (he was in the 10%-11% range prior to last year).
Even with regression factored in, Mesoraco is still capable of hitting near the .260 range and should be good for about 20 Home Runs.
