Lukas Podolski’s time at Arsenal may be coming to an end for good after the striker agreed to join Italian giants Inter Milan.
Lukas Podolski Loaned to Inter Milan
The Serie A side clinched the signing of the German attacker on a six month loan deal. After arriving in Milan to complete the deal, Podolski expressed his excitement: “Happy to be at Inter, I’ve talked with Roberto Mancini, great manager. I’m ready, forza Inter.”
Podolski’s time at Arsenal was spent mainly as an impact substitute who scored a few key goals. However, he rarely featured as a starter. Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger deemed the player surplus to requirements as Lukas spent most of his time at Arsenal on the substitutes’ bench or the treatment table.
Podolski only started two games for Arsenal this season, both in cup competitions. He has not started a Premier League game and has mainly been used as a substitute. He has found himself stuck behind Olivier Giroud, Danny Welbeck and Yaya Sanogo for the places up front, though Wenger preferred to play him on the left-wing, where the likes of Santi Cazorla, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and even Mesut Ozil played ahead of him this year.
A move for Podolski away from the Emirates had been rumoured for months after the German striker stated that he was not happy with his playing time and situation at the club. His contract with Arsenal runs until the summer of 2016, making some sort of permanent transfer a definite possibility in the next window.
