Steven Gerrard Set To Leave Liverpool

According to various media outlets, including BBC Sport, Steven Gerrard is set to leave Liverpool. The Liverpool Midfielder is thought to be heading to overseas and a possible destination is rumoured to be the USA; and the LA Galaxy of the MLS are one of the clubs rumoured to be in the running for him.

The 34-year-old has struggled for form this year, and has even been dropped by manager Brendan Rodgers. Despite this, he still managed to score 2 penalties for Liverpool in their 2-2 draw to Leicester on the same day of the news breaking.

Gerrard first made his Liverpool debut in 1998 and has since lead the club to victory in the Champions League, FA Cup and has even won the PFA player of the year award in 2006. Ultimately, the one accolade that has managed to elude him is a Premier League title despite his outstanding performances in a Liverpool shirt. Perhaps his best chance was last season when Liverpool ultimately ended up finishing second in the Premier League, behind Manchester City. However, things aren’t going quite as smoothly this year.

Gerrard’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season. According to BBC Sport MLS and La Galaxy is a possible destination for him. It is expected an announcement will be made on Friday 2nd January regarding his future.
