The first manager sacking of the Premier League season has come down today, and its the man who has been manager of his club for the shortest amount of time, just four months. Crystal Palace F.C. announced today that they have sacked manager Neil Warnock following a 3-1 defeat to Southampton on Boxing Day.
The Club released the following statement on their official website:
“Crystal Palace Football Club can today confirm that Neil Warnock has been relieved of his duties and is no longer first-team manager.
The club would like to put on record its thanks to Neil for all his hard work and energy over the past four months.
Keith Millen will lead the team against Queens Park Rangers tomorrow as caretaker manager.”
The 66-year-old Warnock, started his second stint with the club, officially taking over in August of 2014. His appointment came just days after the shocking resignation of Tony Pulis on the eve of the season.
Crystal Palace sit at 3-6-9 for 15 points, and in the relegation zone of the Premier League table. They are just one point behind Hull City, and two points behind Queen’s Park Rangers and West Bromwich Albion, and so there is time for the Eagles to save their season, and their spot in the Premier League for the 2015-16 campaign.
In order to do so, a permanent manager will be needed, and the board is reportedly looking to appoint one as soon as possible. For now, let the rumors fly, and the watch for our second sacking of the year begin.
