2014 FCS Playoffs Announced

The NCAA FCS Selection Show was televised across the United States on ESPNU this morning. As fans awaited their teams’ fates, they already knew the first 11 schools who would be in the playoff. That left the selection special just 13 wildcard selections to announce.

Teams Announced Early

Chattanooga
Eastern Washington
Fordham
Jacksonville State
Liberty
Morgan State
New Hampshire
North Dakota State
Sacred Heart
Sam Houston State
San Diego

The FCS also announced the top four seeds in the playoff half an hour prior to the Selection Show.

Top 4

1. New Hampshire
2. North Dakota State
3. Jacksonville State
4. Eastern Washington

Rest of Field Seeding

5. Illinois State
6. Villanova
7. Coastal Carolina
8. Chattanooga

*The top eight will have a bye in the first round.*

First Round Matchups

– Fordham vs. Sacred Heart (winner plays #1 UNH)
– Eastern Kentucky vs. Indiana State (winner plays #8 Chattanooga)
– UNI vs. Stephen F. Austin (winner plays #5 Illinois State)
– Montana vs. San Diego (winner plays #4 Eastern Washington)
– Sam Houston State vs. SE Louisiana (winner plays #3 Jacksonville State)
– James Madison vs. Liberty (winner plays #6 Villanova)
– Richmond vs. Morgan State (winner plays #7 Coastal Carolina)
– Montana State vs. South Dakota State (winner plays #2 NDSU)
