After scoring their fist podium, second place, courtesy of Nelson Piquet Jr in Punta del Este it has come to light that leading Argentinian racing driver Esteban Guerrieri is chasing a drive in the Buenos Aires ePrix. The Superleague Formula, Indy Lights and Formula Renault 3.5 race winner tested for China Racing in Punta del Este and wants to drive the all-electric single-seater in his home race.
Coming in with a armful of sponsors it looks like one of China Racing’s regular drivers will not be there. It looks unlikely to be Piquet given his name and performances, although he admitted himself he fought hard for his cockpit in the first place. Ho-Pin Tung then looks unlikely to be racing yet again after being sidelined last week due to prior commitments in the Asian Le Mans Series. Reserve driver Antonio Garcia who stepped in for Tung will most likely be passed over although he did drive a decent race in Punta del Este, just missing out on the final points paying position to Venturi driver Nick Heidfeld.
Having a home driver on the grid will most likely boost attendance to the event, although being in the city centre already boosts its visibility as well as Brazilians Senna, Piquet and di Grassi all naming this as their home race. Either way, attendance will be high for the fourth round of the FIA Formula e Series after such an eventful race in Uruguay where Sebastien Buemi won the race with Jean-Eric Vergne unluckily retiring from second and on the verge of taking the win. Lucas di Grassi leads the championship going into Argentina with e.dams leading the constructors.
