I used to look up into the sky at night and wonder if there was any purpose or pattern to all of those little lights scattered across the darkness. Could they really tell me about myself and those I care about? Is there a hidden blueprint in them that would tell me what profession would be best for my children? Is there secret information that would let me know if my children should be a certain type of athlete?
NBA and Astrology: Its all in the Stars
Over the last nine years, I have spent many hours studying my sign, and those of the people around me ,and have found many interesting similarities in those who share a sign or one of its characteristics. I have also studied groups of people: Presidents, NFL players, cult leaders, musicians, mass murderers and serial killers, etc. and have always been astounded by the similarities I find in their zodiac sign.
On December 4th, 2014, I decided to do research on the points per game leaders in the NBA this season. I looked up the signs of the top twenty players, and once again what I found was very interesting, and pointed very strongly to just how much astrology can tell us about human kind.
I plan to share my findings and analyses with you, but first let me go through a quick description of the signs for those who may not be completely familiar with astrology.
There are twelve signs which each fit into one of the elements: Fire, Earth, Air, Water, and one sign from each element has one of three qualities: Cardinal, Fixed, Mutable. Half of the signs are Masculine, and half are Feminine.
Masculine signs
The Fire Signs are: Aries (Cardinal), Leo (Fixed), Sagittarius(Mutable).
The Air Signs are: Libra(Cardinal), Aquarius(Fixed), Gemini(Mutable).
Feminine Signs
The Earth Signs are: Capricorn(Cardinal), Taurus(Fixed), Virgo(Mutable).
The Water Signs are: Cancer(Cardinal), Scorpio(Fixed), Pisces(Mutable).
Points Per Game.
As of the date of my research, four of the top five scoring leaders in the NBA are Mutable signs (Virgo and Pisces). The top two, Kobe Bryant, and James Harden, are Virgo (Feminine), and number three, Anthony Davis, and number five, Stephen Curry are Pisces (Feminine). LeBron James (Capricorn)comes in at number four and although he is not a mutable sign like the others, he does share the Earth Element with Virgo, and the Feminine Quality with both Pisces and Virgo.
Kobe Bryant-August 23-Virgo
James Harden- August 26-Virgo
Anthony Davis-March 11-Pisces
LeBron James- December 30-Capricorn
Stephen Curry- March 14-Pisces
The totals for each sign are as follows: Virgo=3, Pisces=3, Cancer=3, Aries=3, Capricorn=2, Gemini=2, Leo=2, Aquarius=1, Libra=1.
Equally as telling are the signs which were not represented. Taurus(Fixed Earth), Scorpio(Fixed Water), and Sagittarius(Mutable Fire)
What this shows me about today’s NBA, is that although most of the signs and elements are represented in the top 20 scoring leaders, those who have the most success and are at the top of the list are Feminine Signs(Intuitive), who adapt well to other people and their surroundings(Mutable), have a resolute mind set(Earth), or are able to flow with the plan set before them (Water).
The reason I specify today’s NBA, is that if you research the all-time scoring list, the Zodiac Signs are different, with Kobe Bryant the only Virgo, and Shaquille O’Neal the only Pisces in the top ten. These players are all from different eras, and as the style of play changes, so do the skill sets necessary to excel in that style of play.
Coincidentally, this year’s NBA Draft spoke volumes about what kind of skills the league is looking for in the future, as the top three players selected where Pisces, and the fourth was a Virgo, for a total of 4 Pisces and 2 Virgos in the top ten.
1 Andrew Wiggins, February 23, Pisces
2 Jabari Parker, March 15, Pisces
3 Joel Embiid, March 16, Pisces
4 Aaron Gordon, September 16, Virgo
6 Marcus Smart, March 6, Pisces
9 Noah Vonleh, August 24, Virgo
I didn’t research many of the coaches in the league, but I did look up the one I consider the greatest ever, and yes, you guessed it. Phil Jackson is a Virgo.
No matter your opinion of Astrology, I hope my research has shown how much fun and knowledge are to be gained when you follow the stars.
