NBA Tops and Flops of Opening Week

With the NBA season just under way here is a look around the NBA to determine who has been great (tops) and not so great (flops) in the last seven days. Here are your NBA tops and flops from opening week.

Tops

Houston Rockets – For Harden’s side, who are now 6-1, this first week or so of the season has been no less than a dream. All six of their wins have been by double digits, including a stellar win against Texan rivals San Antonio, where they dominated the reigning champions from start to finish.

Memphis Grizzlies – The Grizzlies also have had a great start to the season, with six wins and one loss, including a win against the Thunder.  After a disappointing season last year, they are looking very strong.

Golden State Warriors – The last team to have a perfect record so far. Led by an impressive Klay Thompson (who has already set a new career high for points this season, 42) the Warriors have looked very strong offensively, allowing them to blow out Western rivals Clippers and beat Houston in a very high level game.

Flops

Cleveland Cavaliers – It was always going to be tough for the Cavs, with so much media attention and so many changes to the roster. But one could have hoped that the talent acquired in the off season would be enough to avoid a bad start. But it didn’t. With a record of 2-3, and a very disjointed offense, Lebron’s side still needs time to get going.

Philadelphia 76ers – For this side it seems that this season will resemble the last one, oh, and the one before that. That mainly implies defeats, and a lot of them. With a record of 0-6, including a disappointing home loss to Orlando, one of the teams that are within their grasp, the most exciting event for the Philly fans is next year’s draft…

Los Angeles Lakers – Same story as for the Sixers. A 0-5 record and a team that depends far too much on Kobe Bryant. Something needs to change for this side, which doesn’t look a threat to any team, and have already lost a lot of ground in the very competitive Western Conference.

Oklahoma City Thunder – Without Kevin Durant or Russell Westbrook, the Thunder are really struggling. A pitiful record of 1-5 whilst looking lost on offense and often out-paced on defense. It seems their strategy is to avoid too much damage until the return of their stars.
