Corey Perry Placed on Injured Reserve

The flu bug looks like it hasn’t slown down in keeping Anaheim Ducks sniper Corey Perry out of the lineup.

It will be the third straight game missed for the 29-year-old Peterborough native, who has 11 goals in 13 games played so far this season. That’s a 68-goal pace, continuing to be slowed. The IR stint is not longterm, as Perry can be activated as soon as Wednesday.

The strong depth of Anaheim comes into play when these types of players are kept out of the lineup, and it will be called on to grind out tonight’s game in Vancouver. Guys like Jakob Silfverberg (0-6-+1) and Devante Smith-Pelly (3-3-+2) will likely see more ice time. Ryan Getzlaf (4-11-+3) will also look to continue his torrid pace. Meanwhile, center Ryan Kesler (3-7–3) will make his return to Rogers Arena to try to contribute in Perry’s absence.
