UFC light-heavyweight Anthony “Rumble” Johnson has been cleared to fight in the UFC again and the civil lawsuit in Florida against him has been dismissed. In 2012, the mother of his children sought a restraining order against him and claimed that he actually knocked two of her teeth out in an altercation.
Rumors are already stirring up about the potential fight between Johnson and Alexander Gustafsson now that Rashad Evans has said that he needs more time for his injuries to heal before he heads back in the UFC Octagon. Nothing is official yet, but it is certain that the UFC will do something soon so that Johnson can continue to make noise in what is a very top-heavy light-heavyweight division.
Jon Jones has been very dominant as champion for the last few years and Gustafsson was the only one to even come close against him. Johnson is a potentially interesting match for Jones because of his insane knockout power and his ability to defend the takedown. He was able to easily dispose of contenders Phil Davis and Rogerio Nogueira and simply out-classed them. Gustafsson would be a true test to see where Johnson really stands in this division and if it is possible for him to become a future champion.
It was sad news not long ago when Johnson was not able to fight because of these legal problems, but now we could possibly see this beast in the octagon in the near future.
