The deal, which kicks in next season, will provide Fleury with a modest $750,00o raise over the $5 million AAV of his last contract. While some might complain about the cap hit, $5.75 million ranks Fleury 13th in salary among NHL goaltenders in 2015-16. The new contract includes a no-move clause, and a limited no-trade clause.
The 29-year-old Fleury, who helped Pittsburgh to a Stanley Cup in 2009 but hasn’t seen much personal or team success since, is off to a fantastic start this year. Through nine games he has a record of 7-2-0, a 1.89 goals against average and a .931 save percentage to go along with three shutouts.
