Ontario Hockey League Suspensions

Two Ontario Hockey League players have been suspended for their actions via Twitter. The league suspended Peterborough Petes forward Greg Betzold and forward Jake Marchment of the Belleville Bulls for breaking the league’s social media policy. Both players have received 15 games for “tweeting” inappropriate comments which by the OHL is considered “harassment” and or “abuse.”

Betzold is a Maryland native that was born in 1995 and is in his third season in the OHL. Betzold has appeared in 142 games for the Petes and has scored 29 goals and added 44 assists. This season, he has seen twelve games, contributing eight goals and four assists.

Marchment, a Los Angeles Kings prospect from Ontario, Canada, was also born in 1995. He is entering his second year with the Bulls appearing in a total of 72 games. He has scored 13 goals and 26 assists during his tenure with Bellville. This season, before this recent news, he has played in 15 games tallying just three goals and four assists. Marchment was drafted in the sixth round (157th overall) in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
