With the move to Coventry finally confirmed, London Wasps can now move forward and focus on the rest of the season. Some fans don’t agree with the move to Ricoh Arena, but others including the club think that it is the best thing to do for the clubs future development. Wasps will be the same club but they will also enter into a new era that everyone will look forward too. Fans can now look forward to the club competing at the same level as the big names in Europe and in the Aviva Premiership.
Having the opportunity of using a new ground means that Wasps are able to take existing fans with them to help create a better atmosphere every game. The existing fans can also help create a bigger fan base going forward into the new era. It has definitely created more of a buzz between the different athletes, coaches and the supporters of the club. I believe with being able to compete at the top level again, it will help the club to grow even more and with the talent that the club has, competing at this level wont be a problem.
Being in a ground like Ricoh Arena will feel like playing at Twickenham every week, like when England play there. To some fans it will feel strange to be in a bigger environment, but it will help to make the atmosphere a bit more special. With going to Twickenham to see Wasps play at the start of the season, I have to admit it was strange, but it helped the fans to stick together and grow closer as a family. By being in a bigger ground it will ultimately help to make that bond feel stronger week in week out.
