Volchenkov hit Ferland with 48 seconds left in the second period of the game. Volchenkov was not penalized on the play, although Ferland left the game and did not return. It was later confirmed by Flames GM Brad Treliving that Ferland was diagnosed with a concussion, and did not accompany the team on their road trip to Montreal.
