Blue Jays Trade Adam Lind to Brewers for Marco Estrada

Toronto, ON – The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have exercised the 2015 option on 1B ADAM LIND for US $7.5 million and have traded him to Milwaukee in exchange for RHP MARCO ESTRADA. The options on LHP J.A. HAPP (US $6.7 million) and C JOSH THOLE (US $1.75 million) were also exercised, while options on RHP DUSTIN McGOWAN, RHP BRANDON MORROW, and RHP SERGIO SANTOS were declined allowing them to elect free agency. The option on 1B JUSTIN SMOAK was also declined, however he remains under team control and is arbitration eligible. OF MELKY CABRERA has been extended a qualifying offer at US $15.3 million.

3B BRETT LAWRIE, INF MAICER IZTURIS, RHP CHAD JENKINS and OF ANDY DIRKS were reinstated from the 60-day disabled list and were added to the 40-man roster. There are currently 40 players on the 40-man roster.

ESTRADA, 31, appeared in 39 games, including 18 starts last season for the Brewers posting a 7-6 record with a 4.36 ERA, while limiting opponents to a .241 average. The Sonora, Sonora, Mexico native was originally drafted by the Washington Nationals in the 6th round in 2005 and is a veteran of seven Major League seasons, recording a 23-26 won/lost mark with a 4.23 ERA in 154 games, 74 starts with Washington and Milwaukee.

LIND, 31, was selected by the Blue Jays in the 3rd round of the 2004 draft and has posted a .273 career average with 146 home runs and 519 RBI over nine seasons in a Blue Jays uniform.
