The NHL has announced that the scheduled regular season game between the Ottawa Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs that was scheduled to be held tonight in the Canadian Tire Centre has been postponed due to the shootings in Ottawa this morning.
The date and time of the rescheduled game will be announced at a later date, according to the report which can be found on NHL.com.
This situation is not without precedent. Many will recall that back on April 15, 2013, the scheduled game between the Ottawa Senators and Boston Bruins had to be rescheduled after the horrific bombing during the Boston marathon.
Both the Maple Leafs and Senators players and personnel are currently somewhere safe, with a few of the Toronto Maple Leaf players saying over Twitter they heard gunfire a few hours ago.
We will have more on this story as it develops. For now though, everyone at LWOS hopes for the safety of all people in Ottawa as the downtown and Parliament Hill areas remain in a state of lockdown. The RCMP is working to find the shooter or shooters and stop them from committing any more horrific acts.
