Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson 2014 season is all but over after Judge Kelly Case, of Montgomery County Court set a trial date of December 1st. Peterson has denied that he has committed any wrongdoing in disciplining his four-year-old child with a ‘switch’. Peterson’s attorney Rusty Hardin had attempted to get a Thanksgiving trial date, to allow Peterson to return to football but due to more pressing trials he was unable to. That said an early December date is still a speedy move through the system for something of this nature.

Hardin has said they will endeavor to get the trial moved up to November 18th as Peterson is “Chomping at the bit to publicly defend himself”. Peterson accompanied by his wife and mother did not speak during the hearing and was not offered the opportunity to enter his plea (expected to be not guilty) by the judge.
Prosecutor Brett Ligon has requested that the Texas Rangers investigate how details of the case got into the public realm, including images of the injuries Peterson inflicted on his child. Ligon also intends to file a motion against Judge Case to have the Judge recused; due to comments made about Hardin being a ‘Media Whore’ it is unclear at present if this will delay the trial. Outside the court a large collection of media, fans and a person dressed as a ‘wildcat’ mascot holding a ‘free AP’ sign greeted Peterson as he left. When questioned by media Hardin said the following
“Hardin: This man loves his children deeply … there’s another side we are asking people to listen to” Michele Steele @ESPNMichele
Peterson already took to Twitter late last night to defend himself in relation to allegations of wrongdoing regarding his charity The All Day Foundation.
