Last week saw the announcement of a home-and-home series between Texas A&M and Notre Dame for 2024 and 2025. A very exciting prospect for the Aggies even if the games don’t take place for another decade. One of the big criticisms of them this year has been their out-of-conference slate, as they faced Rice, Lamar (FCS) and SMU with Louisiana-Monroe to come on the 1st of November. The Aggies went in as big favorites and they were expected to blowout their opponents in every single one of those games.
So this is a good opportunity to look at which teams Texas A&M has locked in games against in the coming years.
Aggies Future Non-Conference Games
2015: Arizona State, Ball State, Nevada, and West Carolina
The game that clearly sticks out here is the neutral site game with the Arizona State Sun Devils, although the neutral site is NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, so I imagine the Aggies crowd might outnumber the traveling Sun Devils. But at least this matchup gives some respectability to their non-SEC games next year. Elsewhere it’s three home games against smaller schools including FCS opponent West Carolina.
2016: UCLA, Louisiana Tech, and UTSA
Only three games confirmed here so far, including the start of a home-and-home series with UCLA. The first game is at Kyle Field in 2016, which will have finished renovations by then. With the impressive nature of Jim Mora’s reign with the Bruins, it should be a cracker. Louisiana Tech and University of Texas at San Antonio are relatively local small schools who will travel to College Station in 2016.
2017: UCLA, Louisiana-Lafayette, and New Mexico
In the second game of the series, the Aggies travel to the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California to face the UCLA Bruins. Back in 2009 was the last time they faced New Mexico and they won comfortably 41-6. However, the year before they escaped with a narrow 28-22 win in Alberqueque.
2018: Oregon
The only confirmed game so far for 2018 is a visit to face Pac-12 powerhouse Oregon. This created a lot of interest when it was announced and the excitement will continue to build as we get closer.
2019: Oregon, Rice, and UTSA
The return of the Oregon Ducks back at Kyle Field takes place in 2019 alongside a neutral site game at NRG Stadium with Rice, meaning the Aggies have two neutral site games in one season. Familiar foe UTSA makes up the third confirmed game for 2019.
For the foreseeable future, the Aggies will continue to play their annual SEC game with the Arkansas Razorbacks at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
