What a couple of weeks I have had. I had a son and a father in the hospital. I myself had a trip to urgent care with a MRI follow up. Life always has its way to make you remember how lucky we are. My son is back to good health after a night stay in the hospital and a few days off school. Dad had his pace maker upgraded and seems to be recovering well. I am still awaiting the results of the MRI. I sure wish I could have the speedy treatment that is reserved for athletes and politicians. These ups and downs are just a part of life. Those ups and downs are also a part of our fantasy football world. My fantasy picks will spotlight some players that have had some ups and downs going into week #4.
Eli Manning, QB Giants
Manning has started to look more comfortable and confindent in the new Offensive scheme. He has not lured me back in yet, but I am watching. A few more weeks like this could elevate him back into fantasy conversations for standard leagues. He is a possible starter for those of you that play two QB formats.
Tony Romo, QB Dallas
Romo has a ways to go to win back his owners. He has improved his fantasy points each week so far and should do that again this week. I am no Romo fan; however Romo gets a lot of hate from his own fans much less all those who hate everything about the Cowboys. Romo has passed for more than 4000 yards and more than 26 Tds in each season he has played 16 games. If he is healthy, he is worth owning.
Lorenzo Taliaferro, RB Ravens
The rookie had a great game in week three. He looks the part and should be picked up in most leagues. The caution here is, Pierce could be back this week and Forsett has done exactly what the Ravens have wanted out of him. Where does that leave Taliaferro? He for now is just the handcuff of Pierce. He is talented and the future in Baltimore. So, He is a must own in keeper and dynasty leagues
Darrin Reaves, RB Panthers
No don’t laugh. I am serious about the fact that this practice squad promoted running back has a chance to see considerable snaps this week with the Panthers top three backs injured going into the weekend. He is no long term fix. He could be used if you are in a pinch in a deep league during the first bye week.
Marques Colston, WR Saints
Has Colston hit the wall at age 31? This may be the fact. If you own him look to move him after week four when he posts some nice fantasy points against the Cowboys. There was a drop in production last year and he does not look to be the same player he once was.
Victor Cruz, WR Giants
I am not going to lie; I had given up hope for Cruz, Eli, and the Giants. The Giants offense has improved each week. Cruz and Eli found the same page in the new playbook last week. This is the time to jump and offer a trade to the owner that is looking to sell high on Cruz. I am still not buying Eli, yet.
Denis Pitta, TE Ravens
What a shame for a very talented athlete. Pitta was showing his skill early this season before dislocating the same hip that cost him last season. This puts him out for the season again, and should be dropped. He is droppable in even dynasty leagues as this leads to some major concerns about his football future.
Niles Paul, TE Washington
This is Paul’s forth season as a pro. He now has 4 more catches this year than he had in his first three combined. Paul is filling in for the injured Jordan Reed. Reed is out again for this week, which means that Paul has another chance to solidify his hold on the TE job. Paul has been targeted 24 times and caught 18 of those for 253 yards. He is a nice fill in for those bye weeks or the Pitta owners.
Alex Henery, K Lions
Henery has been signed by the Lions and could be a nice pick up for those of you looking for a kicker to fill in during the bye week. Henery was decent in Philadelphia before missing 5 of 28 tries last year and getting the cut after a poor preseason for the Eagles.
