I am selling our house, that’s a big deal. This is where my daughter grew up, where I meet my wife and where so many of life memories were created. I have had great times and tough times in almost every room in this house, it’s tough to put a number on something like that. I have been talking with people about what to have as an asking price but we aren’t close to the same number. To them it’s just some wood and glass but to me it’s worth so much more. They do not understand what I mean and I of course do not care about what they mean.
I get nervous that someone will buy it but not appreciate it the way it should be. It has nothing to do with curb side appeal, square feet, or any of the normal real state “lingo”. I want them to see the Christmas tree with presents right before my daughter goes in for the attack. I want them to see me on the couch trying to sneak a nap after thanksgiving dinner with friends and family all around. I want them to see the countless gatherings we had over the years and of course on New Year’s Eve banging pots and pans outside to annoy my high society neighbors.
I want them to see the countless smiling faces that have entered this house. This is the last place I saw one of my dearest friends and where we celebrated years of birthdays. How do you put a price tag on something so meaningful? We all make up the worth for everything out there.
Fabber’s Believe It or Not, Fantasy Week 4: Measuring Worth
That, like everything else in life makes me think about fantasy football. I get a lot of questions about trades and the worth of a player but the worth of that player is really up to you. It’s not the way great business is done but this is your team. So if you love McCoy keep him! If you hate T.Y. Hilton trade him for a bag of big league gum. It is all up to you. You determine the worth of the players and the team you have, but also understand if no one else agrees with you on it. Worth is like beauty, it’s all in the eyes of the beholder.
So I will never get what my house is worth to me from anyone else, just like you might not get what you think a certain player is worth. But at the end of the day if it’s best to sell and move on we both might have to get used to that fact.
So for those of you who have been living under a rock somewhere this is where I tell you players I believe in this week and others that I don’t. I will not talk about the obvious ones and if I believe in them it doesn’t mean bench a stud for them. Read everything you can and trust your gut, I mean it is your team and all. So let’s do a quick recap of last week and get into week 4, the first bye week!
Here are some week 3 Believes that made us look good.
Player | Points Scored | Predicted |
Russell Wilson | 25 | 21 |
Knile Davis | 17 | 15 |
Zac Stacy | 12 | 12 |
Dan Bailey | 10 | 12 |
Patriots | 12 | 16 |
Colts | 20 | 16 |
Here are some week 3 Believes that made us look bad!
Player | Points Scored | Predicted |
Andy Dalton | 11 | 20 |
Stevan Ridley | 5 | 14 |
Keenan Allen | 1 | 18 |
Percy Harvin | 5 | 15 |
Zach Ertz | 1 | 12 |
Larry Donnell | 3 | 11 |
Here are some week 3 Nots that made us look good!
Player | Points Scored | Predicted |
Ryan Tannehill | 14 | 15 |
Montee Ball | 2 | 9 |
C.J. Spiller | 5 | 8 |
Larry Fitzgerald | 1 | 8 |
Torrey Smith | 6 | 2 |
Heath Miller | 5 | 6 |
We only had one Not that made us look bad last week and that was Josh Brown Kicker for NYG getting 12 points when I said 6. Not bad!
So here we go with week 4
Believes
Quarterback
Ben Roethlisberger PIT, 24 Points: This offense is built to pass the ball early and often. I am not sure Tampa Bay can compete this week. L Bell will keep the defense honest and Ben will take advantage of them.
Kirk Cousins WSH, 22 Points: Did everyone see what he did with only one week of practice!?!?!? The players should trust him better and know he will get the ball to them. I love him this week.
Eli Manning NYG, 22 Points: This Thursday we might see the highest scoring game of the year. Both teams on a short week, banged up and less practice time to prepare. This will test both defenses versus high powered potential offenses. Get him in your line up.
Running Back
Lamar Miller MIA, 15 Points: As the only back he racked up over 100 yards on limited touches due to the score. This game should be a grinder and that will make fantasy owners of this player happy. Miller will keep surprising.
Donald Brown SD, 14 Points: Jaguars have one of the worst rush defenses in the league. Add that to the fact that Brown is now their only back for the most part. Mix those two together and you have a giant game for Brown.
Khiry Robinson NO, 12 Points: The Saints will try to eat up the clock and slow down the blitz for Drew Brees. The best way to do this is to hand the ball off to the new work horse, Robinson. He can make guys miss and the Cowboys are pretty good at missing.
Wide Receiver
Michael Crabtree SF, 16 Points: He is starting to find his groove like Stelia and that is a great thing for anyone waiting for him. I do not see it stopping this week. He is finally playing the role we thought he would all year.
Mike Wallace MIA, 14 Points: He was made for this offense. What better way to show he is back by taking over London while playing the beat up Raiders. Just another week of double figures for the most trusted receiver in Miami.
Victor Cruz NYG, 14 Points: We had a Cruz sighting last weekend and I think we will have one this Thursday. He will be lining up against a beat up secondary that on their last leg. He will get his targets and take advantage of most of them.
Tight End
Niles Paul WSH, 13 Points: As long as Reed is out of a Redskin Jersey I will love this player. It might have taken him three years but he has found how to be useful in the NFL. Paul will do even better with a pocket passer now that Kirk Cousins has taken over.
Dwayne Allen IND, 12 Points: He has a problem of being consistent but this is one of those weeks where things will go right for him. He is becoming more and more part of the offense.
Defense
Dolphins 14 Points: A great matchup and playing for a lot of pride. I feel they will make a statement this week after the embarrassment known as week three.
Falcons 10 Points
Kicker
Shaun Suisham Pit, 13 Points
Dan Carpenter BUF, 11 Points
NOTS
Quarterback
Cam Newton CAR, 17 Points: Over half the backs are injured. Newton doesn’t look totally engaged during game time. He is also really nursing that ankle during games. He isn’t the same Cam and until he fights through this in his head he is a danger to play.
Nick Foles PHI, 16 Points: A banged up offensive line and no way to establish the run will make Foles more of a target than he already is. This could be the begging of the slide this Sunday. I am actually nervous for his health.
Running Back
Reggie Bush DET, 9 Points: He had a nice week last week and was a great sell high candidate but if you held onto to him you will pay the price this week. He is not used enough or the right way to have many big games. The rollercoaster ride continues.
Trent Richardson IND, 6 Points: Is anyone ready to give up on this guy because I am already there. He will keep losing more touches as we go. The only back I want from this team is Bradshaw and that even scares me.
Wide Reciever
Kendall Wright TEN, 8 Points: He is being doubled most games and not getting consistent targets. I love what he could be but this week doesn’t look like his week. When Locker is your QB it might never be your week.
Andre Johnson HOU, 8 Points: I would start Hopkins over him in a heartbeat this week. They do not have the offense to take the big shots or big air. They will dip and dunk their way to where ever it takes them. That doesn’t do well for the deep threat.
Tight End
Larry Donnell NYG, 8 Points: He will get looks but the Skins have not been back about the run. They did shut down pretty good on Ertz and haven’t been crushed by tight ends much at all. Tough matchup and the offense is waking up.
Jason Witten DAL, 7 Points: He is not what he once was and we see it every week anymore. He will not get the targets or the field to play around with much. Another week of football and another disappointment for him and all his fantasy owners will get even more annoyed.
Defense
San Francisco 49ers 8 points
New York Jets 7 points
Kicker
Nick Folk NYJ, 6 Points
Graham Gano CAR, 6 Points
