Serie A Gameday 3 is around the corner and, after the 28 goals scored last week, it is only fair to expect a great show.
The main event is going to take place in the evening in Milan, no doubt about it, the “Rossoneri” home side will face Italian champion as well as table co-leader Juventus.
Serie A GameDay 3 Preview
Massimiliano Allegri returns to the San Siro well aware that this is going to be a different match compared to the one that took place 1 year ago, when Fernando Llorente and Carlos Tevez’s goals gave the “Bianconeri” a comfortable win, bursting them towards the title 11 points ahead of AS Roma. AC Milan will try to get advantage from the momentum deriving from the “goal festival” that took place last week in Parma, when the ball ended in the back of the net 11 times. Milan also look to take advantage of the fatigue Juventus accumulated by playing against Malmoe early this week in Champions League. The big rivalry between the two clubs will add spice to the game, the crowd will be massive and loud, the players ready. You don’t want to miss that.
On Sunday all the eyes will be on Inter Milan and Napoli. The “Neroazzurri” will play Palermo away in what is expected to be a tough test. Walter Mazzarri is beginning to put his mark on the squad and the notable last week’s improvements shown in the 7-0 win against Sassuolo, compared to the game of two halves against Torino, are the proof. Finally the team has speed on the wings and attacks and defends as a unit, achieving a superior man advantage in every zone of the field at any time. On the other side of the pitch the newly promoted side from Sicily will try to get back on track, after the stop in Verona. Attention to Palermo’s star Paulo Dybala is a must for Inter’s back line.
Regardless of a 60% ball possession, 11 scoring chances and a penalty, Napoli lost the first home game of the season last week in San Paolo Stadium as Gonzalo Higuain saw his 11 meters penalty try stopped by a “super” Francesco Bardi. The chance to redeem itself will come in the game against Udinese at Friuli Stadium. The team’s slow pace, lack of intensity as well as attention in the back line, are ghosts hunting Napoli since last season, effecting also the victory in Europa League against Sparta Prague in the middle of the week. The “Azzurri” will heavily rely on Higuain and his goals in order to lead the squad towards full 3 points, but it won’t be a piece of cake. Udinese had a good start of the campaign despite the new coach. Antonio Di Natale and Co. will try to add even more pressure on Rafa Benitez, expect a big scoring sheet.
Twice former AC Roma’s coach Zdenek Zeman will guide Cagliari from the Olimpico’s dugout against the local “Giallorossi”. The home club is looking to get the fourth victory in a row out of 4 games played. Rudi Garcia spoke words of confidence during the week, rightfully justified by the 5-1 triumph during the midweek Champions League match against CSKA of Moscow. Cagliari may be on the verge of getting the beating of the century.
In Genova, Lazio will face “Rossoblu'” part of the city. Stefano Pioli’s team had a bad start against AC Milan, but the contest easily won against Cesena was reassuring enough.
Other games are:
Chievo-Parma, Sassuolo-Sampdoria, Atalanta-Fiorentina and Torino-Verona.
