Brett Hundley watched as Jerry Neuheisel (23 for 30, 178 Yards) let fly the game-winning touchdown pass to Jordan Payton to lift UCLA over Texas 20-17. MarkRogersTV runs down the Bruins’ effort on both sides of the ball as well as the Longhorns’ spirited work following last week’s 41-7 thumping by BYU. Paul Perkins carried the load in the absence of Hundley as UCLA played it safe with the inexperienced Neuheisel at the controls. Perkins ran for 124 yards and caught passes for another 69 as the Bruins needed every inch at Cowboys Stadium. Jim Mora limited the game plan to nothing but safe throws in trying to win a battle of defense and field position with Hundley on the sideline – at least until Neuheisel let go of the game-winner. Texas QB Tyrone Swoopes (24 for 34, 196 Yards, 2 TD) showed poise and ability with the running game providing little support. Does the College Football Playoff Committee believe in survive and advance? Is there such a thing as a moral victory in Austin?
