NCAA Top 25 Rant
Different voters with different voting criteria. The result is a Top 25 that makes little sense. Now that the BCS has been put to rest we still have a rankings system that results each week from projections, perceptions and, oh yes, performance on the field. Let’s start with the preseason poll. Some voters simply vote, in order, for who they believe are the 25 best teams in College Football. Others review schedules and attempt to project how the season will conclude. For example, a particular voter believes one team is the fifth best team in the country, but ranks them 13th in the poll because they project them to drop some games. Following one week of play Mark Rogers review the Associated Press Top 25 and finds plenty of inconsistencies. Are we ranking teams based on last season, on Week 1 performance or on projections? That’s the problem. There is no criteria. Therefore, the result is some logic mixed with plenty of non sense.
Mark Rogers has interviewed big time NCAA coaches Tommy Tuberville, George O’Leary, Troy Calhoun, Sonny Dykes, Blake Anderson, Bill Blankenship, Ron Caragher, Matt Wells, and more on his station. In addition to these they feature analysis of the latest games, picks and point spreads, and coverage of the NFL and NBA. Be sure to check back often as Mark Rogers will be sharing his best stuff right here at LWOS going forward and we are happy to have him on board.
