Fantasy Wide Receiver Rankings 5-1
#5 Julio Jones
Year | Age | Team | G | REC | Yards | TD | Tar | Fum | Fum lost |
2011 | 22 | Atl | 13 | 54 | 959 | 8 | 95 | 1 | 1 |
2012 | 23 | Atl | 16 | 79 | 1198 | 10 | 129 | 0 | 0 |
2013 | 24 | Atl | 5 | 41 | 580 | 2 | 60 | 2 | 1 |
Coming off of a knee injury isn’t only scary for the player or team but also any fantasy player thinking about drafting this guy. It should be, knees are very important to any player, especially running back and wide receivers. I am here to tell you to relax, breath and trust in Jones (like any country music fan does). This isn’t any Julio, this is you and Julio down by the school yard holding a fantasy football championship trophy. When Julio Jones went down he was the 6th best fantasy wide receiver. There is no reason to think he couldn’t do that for a whole year and maybe even do better. Look if Josh Gordon is out, that would put him into the top 5. So go ahead, take a flyer on this player and enjoy the show.

#4 Dez Bryant
Year | Age | Team | G | REC | Yards | TD | Tar | Fum | Fum lost |
2011 | 22 | Dal | 15 | 63 | 928 | 9 | 103 | 3 | 1 |
2012 | 23 | Dal | 16 | 92 | 1382 | 12 | 138 | 5 | 2 |
2013 | 24 | Dal | 16 | 93 | 1233 | 13 | 160 | 3 | 1 |
Dez Bryant is an elite wide receiver and should be drafted that way. We have ranked him number 4 because of Bryant’s ability to stretch the field and come down with tough catches. Bryant had double digit points 9 weeks last year, and four of those weeks Bryant had 20 or more points. Bryant makes his money in the end zone with 12 TD’s in 2012, and 13 in 2013. Will there be 14 in 2014? When the Cowboys get into a high-scoring passing game with another team, Bryant is targeted often and his numbers are very good (hence, 20 points against San Diego, 24 against Denver, 19 against Detroit and 21 against Green Bay). This year, the Cowboys get games against the Saints, Giants (twice), Cardinals, Colts and the Eagles (twice), all teams that like to throw the ball and are arguably good at it. Expect Bryant’s stats to be somewhere between 1300 and 1500 yards receiving and 13 TD’s.

#3 A.J. Green
Year | Age | Team | G | REC | Yards | TD | Tar | Fum | Fum lost |
2011 | 22 | Cin | 15 | 65 | 1057 | 7 | 115 | 1 | 0 |
2012 | 23 | Cin | 16 | 97 | 1350 | 11 | 164 | 2 | 1 |
2013 | 24 | Cin | 16 | 98 | 1426 | 11 | 178 | 1 | 0 |
A.J. Green is a rising star and will someday take over the #1 ranking for WRs. Yes you heard me right. He is not there yet but this could be by the end of this year. He is truly a 2nd round draft pick that still has upside. He has shown the consistency that you want out of your first 3 rounds. He has speed, size, hands, targets, and would be ahead of everyone if he had Demaryius’s QB.

#2 Demaryius Thomas
Year | Age | Team | G | REC | Yards | TD | Tar | Fum | Fum lost |
2011 | 23 | Den | 11 | 32 | 551 | 4 | 69 | 0 | 0 |
2012 | 24 | Den | 16 | 94 | 1434 | 10 | 141 | 3 | 3 |
2013 | 25 | Den | 16 | 92 | 1430 | 14 | 142 | 1 | 0 |
Demaryuis is a very rare commodity in fantasy football- a sure thing. As long as he doesn’t get injured, he is a near lock to put up good, if not great numbers every week. He was joint-top in ESPN’s fantasy consistency rankings at the end of last season, after putting up top-25 numbers in all but six matches. He also put up an incredible four 20-point games. What is even more amazing is that he could increase his yardage this season with less competition for targets. The only negative is that it is hard to see him put up 14 TDs again, which may affect his score. But he is still a strong candidate for a 200 point season, and can be drafted with confidence.

#1 Calvin Johnson
Year | Age | Team | G | REC | Yards | TD | Tar | Fum | Fum lost |
2011 | 25 | Det | 16 | 96 | 1681 | 16 | 158 | 1 | 1 |
2012 | 26 | Det | 16 | 122 | 1964 | 5 | 204 | 3 | 3 |
2013 | 27 | Det | 14 | 84 | 1492 | 12 | 157 | 1 | 1 |
Calvin Johnson is the no doubt #1 WR in fantasy football. He had almost 2000 yards receiving in 2012, he had 16 TDs in 2011. So last year was a bit of a mix of that with just under 1500 yards and 12 TDs. Oh yah and he missed 2 games. He is one of a few WR worth an early round pick. The facts are that Calvin, much like his commercials, is focused on getting better (if that is possible). I remember a guy named Jerry Rice that was the same way. Now with all due respect for the greatest WR ever to play football, Calvin has better natural ability. He may never catch Jerry’s records, Jerry set that bar pretty high, but he will be seen in the same light at the end of his career.
