The 2014 Oregon Ducks continue their quest to regain the top spot in the PAC-12 during the final six games of the regular season. Analysis and predictions for games 1-6 can be found here.
Oregon Ducks Schedule Analysis
October 18, WASHINGTON HUSKIES (HC), Time and TV Coverage TBD
Oregon returns to the friendly confines of Autzen Stadium pissed off as Chris Petersen brings the rival Huskies to town for the first time (well, for the first time as Washington’s coach, anyway). The Ducks are spitting mad after dropping a game at UCLA and they play that way. Bad day to be a dog in Eugene.
Prediction: Oregon 45, Washington 21
Record: 6-1 (3-1 in PAC-12)
October 24, @California, Levi’s Stadium, Santa Clara, CA, 7:00 p.m. PT, Fox
The Ducks take the brand new Levi’s Stadium for a spin, in what they hope will be a rehearsal for the 2014 PAC-12 Championship Game. Oregon will take California’s defense for a spin in this one also. Cal’s defense is markedly improved in 2014, but not enough to slow down Coach Helfrich’s finely-tuned machine.
Prediction: Oregon 63, California 24
Record: 7-1 (4-1 in PAC-12)
November 1, STANFORD, Time and TV Coverage TBD
This game will be a late-season showdown between the only two schools to have ever won the PAC-12 Championship. This is also a double revenge special for the Ducks, having lost to Stanford in each of the two previous seasons. Home field hasn’t necessarily been the key determinant of games in this series over the past five to six seasons either. Unlike the past couple, this one turns out to be a barn-burner. The team with the ball last wins.
Prediction: Oregon 42, Stanford 38
Record: 8-1 (5-1 in PAC-12)
November 8, @Utah, Salt Lake City, UT, Time and TV Coverage TBD
The Utes are notoriously difficult at home, and 2014 proves to be no different. Oregon struggles a bit with a surprisingly difficult defense and with the altitude, entering the locker room with a rare halftime deficit. Mariota goes to work in the third quarter, and the Ducks pull away late.
Prediction: Oregon 42, Utah 28
Record: 9-1 (6-1 in PAC-12)
November 22 – COLORADO, Time and TV Coverage TBD
Oregon gets another of the improved lower-division PAC-12 teams when the Buffaloes come to town in late November. As with Wazzu, though, better is not good enough. The Ducks win easily
Prediction: Oregon 52, Colorado 24
Record: 10-1 (7-1 in PAC-12)
November 29 — @Oregon State, Corvallis, OR – Time and TV Coverage TBD
The 2013 Civil War was one of the most entertaining games (and colorful, with each school wearing its home jerseys) in all of college football last season, with Oregon prevailing by only a single point. At home. The Beavers will bring plenty of spirit to this year’s matchup as well, but will fall short, by more than a point this time. Oregon has too much talent and too much to play for.
Prediction: Oregon 42, Oregon State 31
Record: 11-1 (8-1 in PAC-12)
Oregon reclaims the PAC-12 North crown in 2014, and sets up a scintillating rematch with the resurgent UCLA Bruins at Levi’s Stadium on December 5, 2014, at 6:00 p.m. on Fox. Please do not miss that one.
