In a Word is a week in sports recap column that recaps the major stories of the past week– in one word.
The past week in sports was highlighted by Hall of Fame Week and this year’s inductees into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. We saw a first for the Hall in this year’s class and above all we saw a true legend and inspirational man receive the admiration he deserves.
Jim Kelly is a fighter and this year’s induction ceremony was as much about him as it was about those who were enshrined into the great institution. His pass to Andre Reed on Saturday Night stole the show at what was a memorable induction ceremony.
Ray Guy – First
Michael Strahan – Inducted
Andre Reed – Emotional
Jim Kelly – Inspiration
Rory McIlroy – Best
Andrew Wiggins – Wanted
Jon Lester – Athletic
Mark Cuban – Critical
Paul George – Brutal
Johnny Manziel – Surging
Minnesota Twins – Rout
Miami Dolphins – United?
Tiger Woods – Sore
Ray Allen – Returning?
If you’re anything like me, you’re excited that the 2014 NFL season is upon us. Sure we’re only entering the pre-season but football is here and that puts a smile on my face. Watching the annual Hall of Fame game is a signal that the season is just around the corner. With the start of a new year, its a clean slate and every team has hope that this could be their year. We now have the next six months or so to figure out which of the 32 teams was right.
That’s a wrap. Another week is in the books. Check back next week for a recap of another week in sports (In a Word). I’m sure we’ll have plenty to after all 32 NFL teams have played their first game.
