Sabres Re-Sign Tyler Ennis
The 24-year-old Edmonton, Albert native was the Sabres first round pick (26th overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. He has spent his entire five-year NHL career with Buffalo. Ennis had a career high 21 goals, and 20 assists for 41 points in 80 games last season. He finished just one point behind Cody Hodgson for the team lead.
Ennis scored a career high 49 points in the 2010-11 season. Overall Ennis has put up 69 goals and 97 assists for 166 points in 265 career NHL games.
Tyler Ennis is getting a significant raise from his last deal, which was a two-year contract that paid him $5.6 million ($2.8 million AAV). The deal also makes Ennis the Sabres second highest paid forward, behind only UFA signee Matt Moulson.
In terms of fancy stats, Ennis had a 43.9% Corsi, and 43.7% Fenwick last season. However, he was playing on the Sabres, one of the worst possession teams in recent memory and his marks were both +0.9% above the team average. He also faced relatively difficult match ups throughout the season.
