In a Word is a week in sports recap column that recaps the major stories of the past week– in one word.
What started off as a relatively slow week that was dominated by World Cup soccer in Brazil, turned out to be a fun and enjoyable week. In the NBA, the biggest star followed by some of his peers made career and league changing decisions.
We saw more than one soccer crazy nation feel the pain of defeat, while we saw another soccer crazy nation witness the heights of World Cup Soccer bliss for the fourth time in their history and first in 24 years.
It was a great week in the end and one that ended in dramatic fashion, in extra time, on Sunday in Rio!
Lebron James – Returning
Luol Deng – Filler
Chris Bosh Contract – Insane
Melo – Knickerbocker
Germany – Champions
Mario Gotze – Hero
Argentina Losing – Awesome
Argentinian fans’ heartbreak – Justice
Brazil – Humiliated
World Cup 2014 – Greatest
Jimmy Smith – Criminal
Baltimore Ravens – Lawlessness
Richard Sherman – Grudge

That’s a wrap. Another week is in the books. Check back next week for a recap of another week in sports (In a Word). I’m sure we’ll have plenty to discuss with the coming MLB All-Star game.
