Another day, another test and E.dams-Renault’s Sebastien Buemi set the fastest time of pre-season testing at Donington Park yet again with a lap of 1:31.083 to finish two-tenths clear at the top of the leader board. The 25-year-old Swiss beat the previous best time set by Audi Sport ABT driver Lucas di Grassi to finish quickest for the second day in a row.
Today saw much fewer reliability problems for all 10 teams with many racking up the laps. Di Grassi who was initially top of the time sheets in the morning has been looking good so far in the new cars and he was closely followed by former Formula 1 and GP2 driver Jerome d’Ambrosio who finished 3rd for China Racing while Andretti tester Scott Spreed finished one place behind in this penultimate test.
Briton’s Sam Bird who headed up test duties for Virgin finished 5th, with team mate Alguersuari placed 12th. Montagny in his Andretti Autosport car started with blistering pace, focusing on qualifying runs, clocking his fastest time of the test so far with a 1:32.958s. Argentina’s Juan Manuel Lopez took part in the test for the first time behind the wheel of the China Racing car and finished 15th.
