Stephen Johnson III Heading to Westwood

UCLA has just landed a huge win on the recruiting trail for the 2015 class. Stephen Johnson III has chosen the Bruins over Oregon, Arizona St., and Cal, as well as, the many other big schools that were going after him. The local kid, from San Leandro, California, is a three-star athlete who can play anywhere on the field.

Johnson has been a starter at QB since his freshman year and as a junior, in 2013, led the San Leandro Pirates to their first league title since 2009. Along with his team’s success, he also had a lot of individual success, being named the Offensive Player of the Year and first team all-league as both a kick returner and quarterback.

Johnson expects to be used a slot receiver or defensive back and there are plans to use him as a kick or punt returner as well. He will bring his 4.37 speed to Westwood and is exactly the type of player that the Bruins have been lacking in the past.

The 33rd ranked athlete, by Rivals, and 45th best player in the state, Stephen Johnson III will be a huge addition to the UCLA Bruins for his four years with the team, beginning in 2015. A lot of credit needs to go to Northern California recruiter Angus McClure and wide receivers coach Eric Yarber for their amazing work in landing this playmaker.
