NL Central Beginning to Look Strong

About a week or two ago, the NL Central was not a strong division. The Brewers have been unstoppable all season of course, but besides that there was not much to make the NL Central seem formidable.

Now the Cardinals certainly have not been bad this season, as they do have a winning record. St. Louis seems to always be in contention for a title and this season will probably not be an exception in the end. They have a very solid team and are currently 6 1/2 games out of first place. We all know that St. Louis has pulled off some incredible late-season comebacks in the past to get into the postseason, and no one should expect this year to be an exception. The Redbirds are 5-5 in their last ten games, so they are holding a steady .500 win percentage at the moment.

The third place team in the NL Central is making more noise than anybody else in the division at the moment, and that is the Cincinnati Reds. The Reds are currently seven games out of first place in their division, but have gone on an incredible run to even get that close. This season was bound to be full of doubt and uncertainty for the Reds with a new manager and changes to coaching personnel, but the Reds are trying to take all the doubt away and prove that they can still contend and make playoff appearances. Over the Reds last ten games, they are 8-2 including a sweep over the San Francisco Giants, which has to be one of the high points of the Reds season thus far.

The Reds and Cardinals are really becoming strong teams, but it is going to take a Herculean effort to take the Milwaukee Brewers out of the top spot in the division. The Brewers are currently 51-33 on the season, and they are 7-3 in their last ten. The Brew Crew is certainly a dominating team thus far and will be nearly impossible to stop if they can continue this run of form.

If the Cardinals and Reds can continue their winning ways, this year’s NL Central race will be fun to watch by the end of the season as both teams make a run at the Brewers. If all three teams can get on a run, the top of this division could be a powerhouse
