Lukaku Amongst Rumoured Spurs Summer Targets

Tottenham Hotspur have in recent weeks made contact over Dutch right-back Daryl Janmaat.

The Dutchman, who had previously played for ADO Den Haag, moved on to SC Heerenveen in 2008. After recording 4 seasons with the club, Janmaat signed for fellow top-divisioners Feyenoord (a club who he had already represented at youth level) after his contract had expired at SC Herrenveen. After making a promising start to life at his new club, Janmaat was awarded his international debut for the Netherlands on September 7th 2012, playing the full 90 minutes in a 2–0 home victory over Turkey (in the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying stage). On the 13th June 2014, Janmaat featured for the Netherlands in their 5-1 victory over current World Champions Spain in the World Cup group stages.

Ben Davies of Swansea City has also emerged as a big target on Mauricio Pochettino’s wish-list. Davies made his first-team debut for Swansea City against West Ham United on the 25th off August 2012, coming on as an 84th minute substitute for Neil Taylor in a 3–0 home victory. Furthermore, Davies became a regular starter for Swansea in the 2012–13 season following a long-term injury to first choice left back Neil Taylor and since has gone on to become Swansea’s first choice left back.

Tottenham target Romelu Lukaku admits he wants to leave Chelsea this summer. “You know Chelsea, every year they buy a new top striker,” said Lukaku.

Reports suggest Tottenham are one of many clubs interested in the availability of the Belgian, who has spent two years on loan at West Bromwich Albion and then spent last season on loan at Everton. The striker also said “I remember me coming into the dressing room last year and seeing Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba and going: ‘Whoah! What’s happening here? But it’s no problem. Many clubs are interested in me. At this stage I have to look to myself. I have to play a good World Cup. That’s very interesting for all the players looking for a transfer. And I must be one of them. Chelsea know my point of view.”  The 21-year old is likely to cost at least 15 million.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly chasing Inter Milan midfielder Ricky Alvarez. The 26-year-old Argentinian has been told he can leave the Italian club this summer and compatriot Pochettino has shown his interest in taking his fellow countryman to White Hart Lane. The Inter Milan man is valued at around 7 million and is being tracked by Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid as well as by the North London club.

Tottenham are plotting a £5m move for Bayern Munich youngster Julian Green. The 18 year old is highly-rated by the Bundesliga champions, and was selected in the USA World Cup team. In terms of ability and playing style, Green is a quick, agile and direct winger, who scored 15 goals in 23 appearances for Bayern’s reserve team last season.

Rumours did suggest the North London Club were looking to hijack Liverpool’s move for Alberto Moreno by tabling an impressive £14m bid plus Roberto Soldado on loan and also including the permanent movement of Etienne Capoue. However, this deal now seems extremely unlikely.

Tottenham fans will however be pleased to hear that sporting director Franco Baldini is in position at the World Cup to ensure the club are in prime position to strike in the transfer market. They are also said to have scouts at games seeking out the top talent in Brazil which is very exciting from a Tottenham perspective and shows they mean real business in strengthening their squad for the approaching campaign.
