After taking a shocking move by switching his sponsor from DuPont to AARP, Jeff Gordon might have another switch in sponsors, even if it is only for a few races worth.
During this year’s race in Sonoma on June 22nd, Gordon will run a blue and white Hendrick Motorsports #24 Chevrolet sponsored by Panasonic and Toughbook. The car for the Toyota Save Mart 350 will still feature small stickers from Gordon’s other sponsors, AARP, Pepsi and Axalta.
It all started when a source was gifted the access to tour The Hendrick Motorsports Main Headquarters where he uncovered a spec of the car on a computer. The picture was snagged and can be found on my twitter account, the username is listed below.
However, only three other races; New Hampshire, Atlanta, and Dover; still don’t have a sponsor scheduled as Hendrick and Gordon look to get a main sponsor for those dates.
Gordon is the winningest active Sprint Cup Series driver at Sonoma with five wins and has only finished outside of the Top 10 four times in his 21 races at the road course. On top of that, Gordon’s Michigan Chassis for this weekend has raced in three races and has never finished outside the Top 15. This simply means that the points leader has a very good chance to put up yet another good result at Sonoma and run away with the lead.
First though, we have to get through this weekend as the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series travels to Brooklyn, Michigan for the Quicken Loans 400 which will take place at Michigan International Speedway on Sunday.
