What Does Colin Kaepernick’s New Contract Mean For The 49ers?

The quarterback is the most important player on any NFL team. They are the player that the franchise is built around, and they will consistently serve as the leader of the team, both on and off the field. Over the last few seasons, NFL quarterback contracts have reached new heights, and they are getting paid more than ever before. Players like Peyton Manning, Joe Flacco, Tom Brady, Tony Romo, and more have all been given massive contracts, and it is clear that their team needs them to succeed.

Last week, a new addition was made onto the list of highest paid quarterbacks, and many are still unsure if this player deserves it.

Kaepernick’s New Contract

A few short days ago, Colin Kaepernick was given one of the largest quarterback contracts ever. He signed a six -year deal that is worth $126.97 million, and he will likely be with the team for a long time. Though there are some that doubt this contract is a good idea, it is definitely worth it for the San Francisco 49ers. Kaepernick has a skillset that many players in the league do not have, except for maybe Russell Wilson. He has one of the strongest arms in the entire league, and he is the best quarterback in the league for playing outside of the pocket. He has the ability to burn defenders with his legs, and when he does complete a deep pass, it is clear that he knows what he is doing.

Kap is very young right now, and he has the ability to become even better. Last season, he started working on his pocket presence, and he should be even better at it next year. With the additions of WR Brandon Lloyd and WR Stevie Johnson, the team which already contains WR Michael Crabtree and TE Vernon Davis will be even better. Kaepernick will be given a very strong offensive line, and the best receivers of his career. He should have no trouble finding success

Kaepernick is one of the best young quarterbacks in the league, and he has already found a great deal of success. In the two seasons where he actually played, including the one where he barely started, Kaepernick carried his team to the Super Bowl and an NFC Championship game. This success cannot be overlooked. There are several quarterbacks that are getting paid more and have done far less. The fact that Kaepernick has the ability to keep his team competitive literally every season makes him very worth it. He has the ability to run the ball better than most, his arm is getting better, his pocket presence will continue to increase, and he has the ability to find success better that almost any quarterback in the league.

Next season, and for the foreseeable future, Kaepernick will continue to be one of the best QBs in the league, and he will keep the 49ers competitive. This is a great deal for the San Francisco 49ers.
