Will General Manager John Schneider and Coach Pete Carroll continue their draft magic? Only this season will tell, but they did some fancy trading early on and ended up with eight picks who they hope will help the Seahawks repeat their 2013 Championship Season. The dynamic duo did some fancy footwork on day one of the draft by trading away their first round pick and ending up with three picks in the fourth round:

Seahawks Draft Review
The Best Player: Justin Britt was signed this week by Seattle and it’s really no surprise. He is hungry and onery and JUST what Seattle’s O-line may needs. He’s versatile and in his 36 starts, he was credited with 35 touchdown-resulting blocks and 253 knockdowns. He will be able to fill the gap left when tackle Breno Giacomini signed with the Jets, but will have to compete with veteran Michael Bowie.
The Surprise Pick: How can you be surprised by anything Schneider or Carroll do during the draft? If they have traded until they had eight seventh round picks I wouldn’t have batted an eye.
Most Likely to be Cut: Turns out it’s Garrett Scott. The Seahawks parted ways with the tackle on May 23 after he his physical revealed he had a rare heart condition. The Hawks released a statement that they were committed to supporting Scott and help him determine his next steps.
Most Likely to Turn Heads in Camp: Wide receiver Paul Richardson who signed with the team earlier this week is fast – and that’s why he was the Seahawks first choice during this year’s draft. He ran the 40 in 4.33 seconds during the Combine. He sees himself as being similar to Percy Harvin and says he’s explosive. During Seattle’s three-day minicamp Richardson was already showing his stuff by flying past 6th round pick Eric Pinkins for a 60-yard touchdown reception.
Bottom Line: I give the Seahawks an 8 because I’m trying to be as neutral as possible and if I’ve learned anything it’s to never doubt Pete Carroll or John Schneider. They were very strategic in filling gaps left behind during the free agency and from the looks of what took place during the rookie camp, they made some great choices and selected some intense and hungry young men, who, if hungry enough, may be able to add to the already stellar dynamic of this team.
