It has been announced on WWE Raw tonight that WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan will be requiring neck surgery. The surgery is scheduled to take place on Thursday.

Bryan won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestlemania XXX in New Orleans. His reign has been a combination of personal high’s and low’s, first marrying Brie Bella before dealing with the unfortunate death of his father. Bryan has been embroiled in a feud with Kane.
No word yet on what WWE plans to do with the WWE World Heavyweight championship. If nothing is announced by the end of Raw tonight, they may wait for how long recovery of the surgery will take. If the neck injury is serious enough, it’s likely for him to be out for at least six months. The last major title vacating due to injury for the WWE championship was John Cena in 2006, having gone a year as champion before having to vacate with a pectoral muscle injury.
The exact nature of the neck surgery, and if it is the disc fusion surgery that so many wrestlers require has not been announced at this time.
Stay tuned, as we will have more on the story as it develops over the coming hours, days and weeks.
