As the season draws to a close with one match remaining, Tottenham look to end the season on a high against Aston Villa at home this Sunday. As an optimistic spurs supporter I cannot see anything other than 3 points, but with Tottenham this season who knows?
What now For Spurs?
After the upcoming match we take a much anticipated break from White Hart Lane following a disappointing season, but who will be in charge? Tim Sherwood, who was appointed back in December and handed an 18 month contract, sees his Spurs future in doubt. If he is to be sacked along with many reports suggesting also, it should be sooner rather than later.
With the summer transfer window on the horizon the board at Spurs must turn their attention to the next appointment and the latest Ins and Outs at the lane. What Spurs must not do is focus on this proposed “List” Tim Sherwood has handed Daniel Levy for who he wants to see represent our beloved club. The transfers made this summer have to be players who want to play for the club, want to see the side succeed and want to help Tottenham progress into a club that can challenge for a top 4 place each and every year, and then perhaps we can see the side go for the grand prize; the premier league title.
I believe that consistency is key for teams in this league, for a side like Tottenham, it is taking that 4th or 3rd place spot for a good few seasons, and staying there. Cementing their place with the sides that have “been there and done that”, there will not be a chance of Tottenham spending £100 million on players and suddenly transforming into a giant side that can go and challenge for the title and progress into battling against sides like Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich, wait a minute.
A man that could have that status is one Frank De Boer. His name has been sung around a lot recently, and with the somewhat bitter disappointment that Louis Van Gaal looks to be on his way to Old Trafford, De Boer seems like the likely favourite and with an impressive managerial record so far at Ajax, and an extremely experienced playing career, why not? With 172 games played, 103 wins, 36 draws and 33 losses that leaves him with a respectable 59.88 win percentage so far, that sounds exiting enough to draw my attention to him, and calling the board to appoint him within the next few weeks so that Spurs can focus on bringing in the assets needed to bring back the passion, desire and drive that was once present that drove us to our first Champions League campaign back in the 2010/11 season.
Players that I, along with many others would like to see at Spurs: Wilfreid Bony, Hulk (Givanildo Vieira de Souza) and Jackson Martinez.
But what next for Spurs? We will have to wait and see. COYS.
