MLS Dispatch Predictions – Revolution vs Sounders

After Sporting KC’s 2-0 win against Columbus, a score line correctly predicted by two of our three analysts, all three of whom correctly predicted a multi-goal win for SKC, we here at MLS Dispatch are feeling pretty darn good about ourselves. This week our experts weigh in on New England Revolution’s upcoming home game against the Seattle Sounders.

Revolution vs Sounders

MLS DispatchAfter a slow start to the season, the New England Revolution are starting to find their form, with veteran Lee Nguyen and rookie Patrick Mullins putting in outstanding performances against Toronto. Although the team lacks any real bite at the striker position, they have a solid defense and a midfield full of creative skill players that move the ball well. Although their offense is a bit of a crap shoot, this is a team you overlook at your peril. New England will have their hands full on Sunday, however, as they go up against a Seattle team that has won 5 games in a row. Clint Dempsey and Obafemi Martins look to be one of the most dangerous stroke partnerships this league has ever seen, and Clint Dempsey will be extra motivated to humiliate New England, given his well documented feud with the Krafts.

It’s a game of David against Goliath. New England have been notoriously poor over the last few seasons, but their investment in youth seems to be paying off. They defeated the mighty Toronto FC last weekend, and Seattle could be next on the hit list. That being said, Seattle is a train that can’t be stopped. They play fast and furious and Dempsey has become a force to be reckoned with. Expect Seattle to attack in full force while New England take advantage of home field advantage and a shaky Seattle backline. Seattle 2-2 New England

The mighty Seattle Sounders roll into Foxboro Sunday dominating clubs with their offensive prowess and a rejuvenated Clint Dempsey as the centerpiece to their attack. New England has won their last two, but honestly is no match for Seattle’s skill. The only hope they have is that their attackers can exploit Seattle’s slow footed back four. This one looks like a 3-1 win for the Sounders.

Five wins in a row is no easy feat, and neither is six wins in a row, but let’s prepare for that to happen as Seattle heads east to Foxborough. Even with a short turn around and three games in nine days, expect Seattle to come out on top as Dempsey plays his last game before departing the team for Brazil. Lee Nguyen has been lights out for the Revs this year, but this is the top team in the league he’s going up against, and he’ll suddenly find passing around Ozzie Alonso very difficult. Dempsey nets one, Martins nets one, and so does Lamar Neagle. Seattle Sounders 3 – 1 New England Revolution
