Former NFL star Chad Johnson, aka Chad Ochocinco, will be getting a shot to continue his professional football career in the CFL with the Montreal Alouettes.
Via his twitter feed, (@ochocinco) News broke about a month ago that Johnson wanted to play in the CFL for the B.C. Lions. Soon afterwards, further news broke that the Alouettes had put the former Cincinnati Bengals and New England Patriots star on their exclusive-rights negotiation list.
On Saturday, Alouettes General Manager Jim Popp issued the following statement regarding the veteran receiver.
“We do expect to meet with Chad Johnson and work him out in Vero Beach, FL this week. Talks did take place and have escalated over the last week.”
Chad Johnson responded on his twitter.

The 36-year old Johnson, was taken by the Bengals in the second round of the 2001 NFL Draft. He spent the first 10 years of his career with the Bengals, and then one season with Patriots. He signed with the Dolphins in 2012, but was released by the team during training camp. Overall he 751 receptions for 10,783 yards and 67 touchdowns in 151 games in his 11-year NFL career.
