I have written many posts over the past few weeks singing Stoke’s praises and telling people this is the season when the Potters will again make history.
It seems I am not the only one who thinks this as 10,000 season tickets have already been sold with Stoke’s Early Bird offer. Stoke City fans will be out in force next season if the sales of season tickets continue to rise after the offer ends.
Stoke face Newcastle this weekend with the Magpies just six points ahead of them in 9th place. Stoke will need a win here if they want to retain any hope of their highest ever finish, or Newcastle will go nine points clear of them and Stoke could be dragged down to 11th if West Ham win.
Ahead of the game, Stoke have been given a boost as Loic Remy has been ruled out. Stoke still have Oussama Assaidi out due to a knee injury, with the on-loan winger set to see a specialist tomorrow.
The Potters still have Cardiff away, Tottenham and Fulham at home before their curtain closer away to West Brom in just over a month.
Stoke’s away day blues continued Saturday against Chelsea when they lost 3-0 but they will be hoping that Odemwingie will put in a performance against his former club and give them three much needed points next weekend as they continue to climb the table.
Many Stoke fans were also quite shocked to hear that former striker Kenwyne Jones was back at The Britannia Stadium yesterday. The Trinidad international swapped Stoke for Cardiff back in January as Peter Odemwingie came over to the Potteries so it was a little strange that he had returned.
Speculation said that he had returned to discuss money and not a return to the club and the Telegraph reported that his return was due to the £80,000 fine he received when he made himself unavailable for the Liverpool game where Stoke eventually lost 5-3.
Stoke have also finally announced the news on their Player of the Year awards, which will take place on the 6th May at The Britannia Stadium. Currently Geoff Cameron seems to have the unanimous vote.
