Has Tim Sherwood's Future Been Decided?

With Tottenham Hotspur struggling early the season leading to the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas in December, Tim Sherwood took over a team with high expectations and underachieving results. And he didn’t get on to the best of starts losing 2-1 at home to local London rivals West Ham in the Capital One Cup. He went on however, to revive spirits with a 3-2 win over Southampton at St Mary’s. He brought in Adebayor after being left in the lowlight under Andre Villas-Boas’ management plans and the lengthy striker scored 2 great goals on his debut. It was the start of a cracking form for the following months.

After a draw at home to West Brom, which Tottenham fans weren’t happy with despite a cracking performance, Sherwood started playing the 4-4-2 formation–which those fans have been crying to see. It worked, as the next 4 games we were unbeaten.

But much has changed as of late as the club is reeling.  Are Spurs back to their old ways that had limited success under Andre Villas-Boas management?

According to reports, Tim Sherwood had been given a list of summer transfer targets despite things recently going awry on the field after a bright start to his White Hart Lane managerial career. Reports also claim that Louis van Gaal, who is leaving his Holland post after the World Cup, will be appointed in Sherwood’s place in the summer.

Tim Sherwood is looking forward to the future but you can see the nerves in him as recently he has watched from in the stands and not on the bench. Is this because he is nervous or is it because he gets too frustrated down on the substitute bench? Tim Sherwood has also started to give young talented players a chance in the first team. He recently brought in Archer, Veljkovic, Winks, Ogilvie and Ball.  He’s also given Nabil Bentaleb and Harry Kane a taste of first team success.

The players have just started to show passion under Tim Sherwood as Spurs went out to Benfica with not a chance of going through in the Europa League, but fought for a place and undeservedly lost on aggregate with a penalty claim that wasn’t given.

Of course this week end’s blowout loss at Liverpool has only magnified the issues which have created ferocious battles in social media amongst supporters.  Reports, though unconfirmed, claimed that there was even a physical altercation between the manager and an unnamed players–though the story was not supported by credible sources.

The line in the sand is drawn amongst Spurs fans, with pro and anti-Sherwood fans on either side.  Personally, I hope Tim Sherwood stays and thrives as he thoroughly deserves it.  With another quality summer of signings, and the maturation of last year’s crop, a steady manager and an army fans behind them, we may just see Spurs lifting a piece of silver next season.
