Pass Blocking: C-
Good initial quickness to get into his set. Does not have the greatest movement skills and can be challenged by speed. Anchor strength is better in pass pro and is able to stop blitzing linebackers in their tracks without losing ground.
Run Blocking: C-
Inconsistent snap-to-step quickness. Does not possess the power that his frame would suggest and does not blow linemen off the ball. More of a wall-and-steer type, and is better in a phone booth than on the move. Has very pedestrian foot speed and struggles to get around on pulls.
Technique: B+
Very good technician. Has heavy hands and uses them to control defenders and lock out. Comes off the ball with good pad level, but will rise the longer he stays engaged and effectiveness and sustain wanes the longer he stays engaged. Generally stays balanced and will move his feet through the block.
Intangibles: B+
Is not a mauler and plays too passively at times, being late to help block. Smart and aware, reflecting his experience. Four-year starter who won the Rimington and a National Championship in his final year. Made 40 starts in his career, but missed time in each season and ability to stay healthy for an entire season is not a given.
Red Flags: None
Bottom Line: Leaving Florida State with a very good collegiate résumé, Stork was the beneficiary of good line play and an excellent supporting cast around him. Stork is a good player in his own right, but lacks some of the exceptional traits that make a good pro. Better suited as a backup, Stork’s best fit is as a zone blocker.
Comparison: Alex Stepanovich
Grade: 8.0 (3rd Round)
