Update: Thursday 9:26 am: There are some facial fractures. Aroldis Chapman will be held in hospital for further tests. He has been transferred to Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center
A scary incident in a spring training game today as Cincinnati Reds closer Aroldis Chapman had to be carted off the field, and a game between the Reds and Royals was cancelled after a line drive comebacker from Royals catcher Salvador Perez hit him in the head, and Chapman had to be carted off the field.

Medical personnel rushed onto the field as soon as the incident happened, and ambulances were immediately rushed to the ballpark. Chapman’s father was at the game and also rushed onto the field.
The game was not televised. Here were some reactions from the field.
Update Thursday Morning 12:12am: The Cincinatti Enquirer is reporting that Chapman remained conscious throughout the incident and that he suffered a laceration and contusion above his left eye. Further testing will of course be done.

The game was called in the 6th inning.
Chapman, a 100 MPH, flamethrowing left hander is one of the best closers in baseball. He had 38 saves and a 2.54 ERA for the Wild Card winning Reds last season.
