Who would’ve thought? A wide receiver will NOT be on the free agent market this time around.
The Saints have officially announced that they have re-signed wide receiver Joe Morgan to a one-year contract.Morgan, 25, was signed by the Saints as an undrafted free agent in 2011, and now he’s back with the team.
Morgan has only played one year (2012), and only has 379 yards receiving and three touchdowns in his career, but this was from 10 receptions, meaning he averages 37.9 yards per catch. In other words, that’s scary considering what work he’s put in. He’s been a monster deep ball threat for New Orleans.
Morgan was also out for the entire 2013 season due to injuries sustained from training camp. Since New Orleans re-signed him, obviously it’ll be in the club’s best interest to keep the young wide receiver healthy.
And the potential for Joe Morgan to have a truly breakout year in 2014 is there. His off-field issues are a different story, and now he has a chance to rise to stardom and assume a role as a leader of the New Orleans football club. It’ll be interesting to see how the Saints plan to use Morgan in 2014.
So buckle up, Who Dat Nation; you’re in for a wild ride.
