Dynamo Moscow – ''Martins Karsums has been placed on injury reserve''

Dynamo Moscow’s latvian foward Martins Karsums was injured yesterday during Dynamo Moscow and Yaroslavl Lokomativ’s playoff game. Today the league has confirmed that he has been placed on injury reserve.

According to league Karsums has an upper body injury (most likely a hand injury) and won’t play for at least 10 days, which means that  he will not be able to help his team in last games of their first round series in the KHL playoffs.

Currently Dynamo Moscow are leading the series 3-2 and the head coach of Dynamo, Olegs Znaroks has stated that this is one of the hardest series he has ever been in during his long coaching career. Three out of the five games have ended in overtime, and the other two matches have ended with just one goal difference.

The next game between the two clubs will be on Saturday in Yaroslavl.  If Lokomativ manages to win game six then series will have a seventh and final game which will be held on two-time Gagarin Cup Champions Dynamo Moscow’s home ice.

In the regular season Karsums scored 17 goals, good for second on the Dynamo team, but he has been cold in recent weeks as he has not scored any goals in his last 11 games.

Meanwhile, Lokomativ is being led by their own Latvian contingent with forwards Mikelis Redlihs having three goals and two assists and Janis Sprukts having a goal and seven assists during the series.
