Report: Cowboys Will Cut DeMarcus Ware

Stunning news as free agency is about to open officially around the NFL, the Dallas Cowboys are set to cut DeMarcus Ware according to reports from ESPN.

Ware was due $12.25 million this season. By cutting the defensive end the Cowboys will save $7.4 million under the salary cap.  Ware was offered a pay cut by the Cowboys but refused to take one to stay on the team.

Ware is the Cowboys all-time leader in sacks with 117, but he slipped to just six sacks last season. He also missed time with injury and the Cowboys defense was one of the worst in the NFL in the first year under coordinator Monte Kiffin, after Rob Ryan was let go. The poor record cost Kiffin his position.

Ware is expected to become one of the most attractive free agents on the market as there are few who can rush the passer in the way he does.  An added bonus is his ability to play as either a 4-3 defensive end, or a 3-4 outside linebacker, meaning that many teams will be involved in looking to add a player of his ability.
