The Colorado Avalanche have suffered another injury. The team will be without forward P.A. Parenteau for the next four to six weeks, coach Patrick Roy said Tuesday after a team workout in Englewood, Colorado.
“We’ll see for playoffs, but he will be out for four to six weeks,” Avalanche coach Patrick Roy said of Parenteau, who sustained an injury to his medial collateral ligament and wore a brace on his right leg after the game, which the Avalanche won 3-2 in overtime.
Parenteau tried to return to the game, and even tried to play on the powerplay but could not continue.
“He was in a lot of pain, but PA is a great team guy and he wanted to give it a try,” Roy said. “He got the puck on the power play and he couldn’t go back.”
Parenteau has 14 goals and 19 assists for 33 points so far this season in 53 games. He missed ten games earlier in the season with a left MCL Sprain.
The Avalanche also are missing forward Paul Stastny because of a balky back. He’s expected to miss the Avalanche’s next game against Chicago on Wednesday, but Roy remains hopeful Stastny can play Friday. The team is also without Alex Tanguay who was lost for the year due to a hip injury.
The team has recalled Brad Malone and Paul Carey from Lake Erie of the American Hockey League to add depth at forward.
