With goaltender Carey Price currently sitting on injured reserve, the Montreal Canadiens have acquired some additional depth grabbing goaltender Devan Dubnyk from the Nashville Predators for future considerations.
Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports that the move is for depth purposes only and does not mean that Price’s injury is worse than originally feared.
Devan Dubnyk is now with the Canadiens. Its not because Carey Price’s injury is worst than expected. Nothing to do with it. #tvasports

John Lu of TSN reports that Dubnyk, who cleared waivers earlier in the week, will be re-assigned to the Hamilton Bulldogs of the AHL.

The 27-year-old Dubnyk originally began the season as the starting goalie for the Edmonton Oilers, but after he struggled the Oilers brought in Ilya Bryzgalov and Ben Scrivens. He was sent to Nashville to help the Predators while Pekka Rinne was out with a rare blood disease, but when Rinne returned this week he was waived. Now he heads to Montreal.
Dubnyk is 11-18-3 with two shutouts this season. He has a 3.43 GAA and .891 save percentage. In his career Dubnyk has a 61-71-22 record with eight shutouts, a 2.90 GAA and .909 save percentage. His best season was 2012-13 when he had a .917 save percentage.
