Arsenal fans, you’ve probably all seen the mock-up’s?
And if you haven’t seen that picture of Arsenal legend Thierry Henry and former Gold Medal winning, British sprinter Linford Christie (weirdly) in the midst of an unlikely “bromance” whilst wearing the (not so) secret new Arsenal Puma top, then a quick Google search can hopefully satisfy your curiosity.
Regardless if you’re a fan of casual sportswear or innovative clothes design, the main plus point to Arsenal switching from Nike to Puma is the financial gain. Arsenal have been naive and very much in the under-achievers category with regards to commercial deals, Ivan Gazidis politely hinted at this soon after his appointment at the club. He then signalled his intention to put that right. The Puma deal, by all accounts is certainly “bigtime” in terms of figures and will make pleasant reading to the clubs accounts soon enough.
As a side, Puma are very much in the ascension in terms of their brand and see Arsenal as the flagship and footballing figurehead going forward with an aggressive and pointed international marketing campaign.
It’s certainly worth bearing in mind, those of you who like to represent your team by wearing the colours and rockin’ the “official” shirt; MOST Puma football tops are quite “figure-hugging”. I appreciate many of you will be of the mind that a grown man wearing a football kit or top is not very becoming. But for those of you looking forward to wearing the new Arsenal shirt next season, unless (like the author) you’re in good shape & cut from Adonis cloth, you might want to get into training NOW, to get yourself a head-start. It’s an inalienable fact that the skin-tight fit of (most) Puma football tops leaves very little to the imagination!
All joviality aside, Arsenal are coming out of a longterm relationship with sportswear juggernauts Nike, only to jump straight into bed with the new girl in town, the attractive & much admired Puma. For those who’ve raised a sceptical eyebrow and posed the question “just what is it that Ivan Gazidis does at Arsenal, apart from earn himself a lot of money?”, well Arsenal’s chief executive, Mr. Gazidis, has negotiated a financial master-stroke, getting Puma on-board with Arsenal. Encouragingly, Gazidis has promised that this is very much a sign of “things to come”.
